Business Value of Purpose
According to research from Imperative and New York University, a mere 28 percent of the workforce is purpose-oriented. That’s a small number and should concern leaders. The research found that purpose-oriented workers are 50 percent more likely to be in formal leadership positions. Additionally, 47 percent of leaders were more likely to promote the good work of their employees. Finally, 64 percent of study participants found greater fulfillment in their work. These outcomes are essential for today’s disengaged workforce. What’s more, these findings point to the business value of purpose.
Purpose in the workplace isn’t some spiritual or “soft” aspect of work life. Instead, it plays a part in turning work into something compelling and raises curiosity in those who believe they have it.
