Time for a check-up? Assessing Cultural Health [Video]

Here’s Chris’ second Culture Leadership Charge video episode exclusively for Switch and Shift viewers. In these crisp, concise segments, Chris outlines proven practices for creating a purposeful, positive, productive work culture.

In this episode, Chris describes five levels of organizational cultural health as detailed in his Amazon best-selling book, The Culture Engine.

From worst to best, those levels are:

  • Dysfunction
  • Tension
  • Civility
  • Acknowledgement
  • validation

Building on the fifty-question culture effectiveness assessment from his book, Chris details the behaviors and characteristics of players at each level so viewers begin to assess the quality of their organizational culture.

Finally, he explains how leaders can evolve their culture to the highest effectiveness level – validation.

There’s a more human way to do business.

In the Social Age, it’s how we engage with customers, collaborators and strategic partners that matters; it’s how we create workplace optimism that sets us apart; it’s how we recruit, retain (and repel) employees that becomes our differentiator. This isn’t a “people first, profits second” movement, but a “profits as a direct result of putting people first” movement.
