Millennials Are the Voice of All Generations with @LeeCaraher

I’m apprehensive to use generational labels as they inevitably lead to stereotypes. There is no such thing as a positive stereotype. Stereotypes are short cuts to understanding. These shortcuts rely on mass generalizations that prevent true understanding of people.

So, in this interview with author Lee Caraher about Millennials, I specifically avoid questions that attempt to label Gen Y. Rather, the conversation focuses on what the best ways are to work with the generation.

We also discuss insights from her latest book, Millennials & Management: The Essential Guide to Making it Work at Work.

Topics we explore in the interview:

  • How to help Millennials find meaning in their work
  • Why Millennials are the voice of all generations
  • How to work within a hierarchy and still get things done
  • The meaning of loyalty has changed, it’s not dead

Get ready to take notes, more great wisdom coming your way.

There’s a more human way to do business.

In the Social Age, it’s how we engage with customers, collaborators and strategic partners that matters; it’s how we create workplace optimism that sets us apart; it’s how we recruit, retain (and repel) employees that becomes our differentiator. This isn’t a “people first, profits second” movement, but a “profits as a direct result of putting people first” movement.
